As the Head of Payments Systems and Services for EFTEX, an ATM and POS acquiring business, you will be responsible for overseeing the strategic direction, development, implementation, maintenance and compliance of the company’s payments systems and services as we enter a growth phase.
Critical to your success will be ensuring efficient, secure and compliant switching, acquiring and payment processing operations. You will also oversee collaboration with stakeholders to ensure delivery of efficient and secure payment processing solutions for customers and merchants, protecting sensitive customer data.

This role requires a deep understanding of the payments industry, technology trends, and a strong ability to lead your team to drive innovation and operational excellence. While you don’t need to be a techy or payments nerd to thrive here, you will need to be curious and motivated.

Role responsibilities will include
  • Development and execution of payments systems strategy;
  • Stakeholder management, including contract negotiation and overseeing service level agreements;
  • Leadership of the payments systems team, fostering a collaborative and high performance culture;
  • Ensuring compliance with industry regulations and standards related to payment systems and data security.
  • Overseeing day-to-day payments systems operations, including authorisation, clearing, settlement, reconciliation and reporting.
  • Implementing monitoring mechanisms to identify and address any operational issues;
  • Leading technology innovation and initiatives that improve payment processing efficiency, reliability and customer experience;
  • Performance monitoring and reporting.
You will bring to the role
  • At least 5 year’s experience in payment systems and services, with progressively increasing responsibility;
  • Proven leadership ability;
  • Demonstrated payment systems knowledge including card networks, payment processors, digital wallets, and mobile payments;
  • Familiarity with payment security standards (e.g., PCI DSS and PCI PIN);
  • Proficiency in payment systems, platforms, and protocols;
  • Proven ability to develop and execute a payments systems and services strategy aligned with business goals;
  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills, along with the ability to collaborate effectively with stakeholders at all levels;
  • Strong analytical and problem-solving abilities;
  • Knowledge of regulatory requirements related to acquiring payment systems and the ability to manage associated risks effectively;
  • Familiarity with APIs, mobile applications, encryption, tokenisation and fraud prevention techniques is desirable.
